Innovative diagnosis of Lyme disease

Advancing toward a faster, more accurate diagnosis of Lyme disease through nanotechnology and artificial intelligence.

Lyme Disease Diagnostics

A new approach to improve diagnosis

Lyme disease is endemic in POCTEFA regions, and its increase is due to climate change, among other factors. Diagnosing Lyme is difficult because the number of bacteria that transmit the disease is low, making current detection systems not sensitive enough. This project aims to develop a more accurate method to directly detect the bacteria that cause Lyme, rather than the antibodies generated by the patient.

A more accurate diagnosis
Development of a nanotechnology-based technique that allows direct detection of the bacteria responsible for the disease.
Application of AI
Use of artificial intelligence to process large amounts of data and improve diagnostic accuracy.
Cross-border collaboration
Cooperation between institutions in affected regions to develop a method applicable on a large scale.
Improved quality of life
Reduce advanced cases of Lyme and improve quality of life for patients with earlier diagnosis.
